You can permanently delete your Mello account and all your data at any time. This page explains how to do it from inside the app, what gets erased, what is kept, and how to request a deletion by email if you can no longer sign in.
1. Delete from inside the app (fastest)
The fastest way to delete your account is directly from the Mello app. Sign in, then follow these steps:
- Open the Mello app on your iPhone or Android device.
- Go to the Profile tab (bottom-right).
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap "Delete my account".
- Confirm the action. Your account and data are erased immediately.
There is no waiting period and no extra step. The deletion is final.
2. Delete by email (if you cannot sign in)
If you no longer have access to the app or your account, send a deletion request to [email protected] from the email address linked to your account. Include:
- The email address used to create your Mello account.
- Your full name (as displayed in the app, if you remember it).
- A short sentence confirming you want your account and data permanently deleted.
We respond within 7 days and complete deletion within 30 days, as required by GDPR.
3. What data is permanently deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is removed from our systems:
- Your Firebase Authentication account (email, sign-in provider, user ID).
- Your profile (name, age, height, current weight, goal weight, dietary preferences).
- All your meal logs, food photos, and nutritional history.
- All your weight entries and progress photos.
- All your GLP-1 dose records, injection logs, and side-effect notes.
- Hydration logs, reminders, and notification preferences.
- Your subscription record on our side (your purchase history stays with Apple or Google).
4. What is kept (and why)
For legal, financial, and security reasons, a small amount of information may be retained:
- Anonymised, aggregated analytics events that no longer identify you (used to understand global app usage).
- Billing and tax records held by Apple or Google for your purchases. We do not control these; contact Apple or Google to request their deletion.
- Server logs containing IP addresses, retained up to 30 days for security and fraud prevention before automatic purge.
5. Cancel your subscription separately
Deleting your Mello account does NOT cancel your active subscription. Subscriptions are managed by the app store you bought from:
- iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Mello → Cancel.
- Android: Google Play Store → Profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Mello → Cancel.
Cancel BEFORE deleting your account to avoid future charges.
